All Hallows Eve
I have learned that this holiday was given to us by the ancient Celts. Druidic priests regarded October 31st as the end of the old year and the beginning of the new. Celtic New Year's Eve. Not only was it their day for celebrating their harvest, it was also their day of Samhain, which is a festival for honoring the dead. Samhain means "summer's end". October 31st is for celebrating the dead and divining the future "All Hallows Eve" and I think November 1st is "All Hallows Day". That is all I really know about this holiday. =( I used to practice Wicca and yet this is all I can recall about one of their most important holidays? How sad! I should really make an effort to learn more background about the holidays my country celebrates......one day I think I'll do that.
